The Euphorbia Ingen is a species of plant in the genus Euphorbia and the family Euphorbiaceae. Popularly known as the Candelabra Tree or Naboom, the Euphorbia Ingen can look similar to its close relatives, and the same plant can look remarkably different from youth to maturity. We find it fascinating to compare varieties of this species depending on where in the world their seeds were imported and grown. Our current stock grows up to 35cm each season, becoming completely spineless with age and forming stunning black borders down each ridge-line, caused by stubborn pollen residue. Please keep in mind that when planting this cactus near structures, future maintenance may be necessary as it can grow quite large. It is important to consider potential trimming needs within the next 10 years to prevent the cactus from hitting or damaging walls or roofs.
Native to dry areas of Africa, this Euphorbia has adapted nicely to the Australian climate. Although it is rare to come by, it has proven to flourish throughout coastal areas of Australia. Planted in the ground, it is surprising how large this tree can become, growing over 3 meters tall if left unpruned. The flowers for this species form as small yellow bouquets, typically found in areas of new growth in mature plants.
The Euphorbia Ingen is great for restaurants and high-traffic areas of the home. Although this plant is great around children and pets, as it can be spineless, it is important to note that the Euphorbia Ingen consists of a milky latex sap, which should not be ingested and can cause serious irritation to the skin and eyes. Please wash your hands with soap if you get the sap on your skin and avoid rubbing your eyes. Just think of it as a plant with a spicy attitude! The Euphorbia Ingen is not frost-tolerant, so make sure to keep it away from those chilly drafts. We suggest positioning this plant in extremely well-lit indoor spaces for regions that frequently experience frosty winters. In colder outdoor settings, make sure to protect it from frost by covering it with frost protection blankets or moving it to a more sheltered area. This is a hardy plant option for beginners and with proper care, the Euphorbia Ingen can thrive and make a stunning addition to any garden or indoor space.
