The Blue Glow Agave is an evergreen plant, also known as a Century Plant and is often compared to the larger Blue Flame or Agave Shawii Hybrid. The Blue Glow was discovered in cultivation by a Californian hybridizer, Kelly Griffin. This solitary agave is a mash-up, crossing the Agave attenuata and Agave ocahui. (Agave Attenuata x Agave Ocahui)

We're obsessed with planting these perfectly symmetrical agaves where they're backlit by the sun. The Blue Glow hosts red margins that glow against light, making them popular features for a good reason.

Cactus Vision favors these agaves for garden strips where consistency is valued, as a line of these perfectly identical plants draws the eye comfortably through a linear space.

The Blue Glow Agave is extremely easy to care for and can grow quite moderately over spring and summer, reaching sizes of almost 1 meter in diameter and 60cm tall.

The Blue Glow Agave is virtually deer and rabbit resistant, due to its slight toxicity. In terms of pests, agave weevil should be preventatively treated in gardens with multiple agaves. Watch for slugs and snails.

Like most agaves, the Blue Glow Agave only flowers once in a lifetime with ten to fifteen years of growth before flowering. After flowering, this agave dies. This 3-meter-high flowering process is a sight to be captured on camera - don't be too quick to remove this agave when it flowers, they flower for many months before passing.
